- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan / Port of San Diego / San Diego, CA. Developed and implemented a SWPPP in accordance with the State Water Resources Control Board order, NPDES general permit, and Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRS) for the construction of a refrigerated container facility at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal in San Diego, California. The SWPPP was prepared for the site and was incorporated into Best Management Practices (BMP) to control pollution, soil erosion, and siltation.
- Best Management Practice (BMP) Design / San Diego County Water Authority / Lake Hodges, California. Designed BMPs for use in association with a SWPPP prepared for the Lake Hodges Emergency Storage Project. BMPs were designed to maintain control sediment runoff to the Lake Hodges Reservoir.
- Voluntary Cleanup Agreement Department of Toxic Substances Control / Blythe, California. Provided regulatory agency liaison and prepared associated Removal Action Workplan (RAW) for private land owner involved with hazardous waste cleanup associated with the development of historical agricultural land.
- Human Health Risk Assessment / Proposed Commercial Development / USA Gasoline / San Diego, California. Performed a benzene vapor risk assessment and facilitated the development of a property that had been affected by an off-site release of hazardous substances.
- Site Investigations / Various Clients / Northern and Southern California. Conducted site characterizations at numerous UST sites in northern and southern California. Determined lateral and vertical extent of contamination, and made recommendations for cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater.
- Remediation Management / Various Clients / Northern and Southern California. Conducted remedial activities at over 20 UST sites in northern and southern California. Included design and implementation of vapor extraction, air sparge, bio-venting, and groundwater pump-and treat-systems.
- Site Investigation & Remediation. Performed site characterization and remediation of active and decommissioned hydraulic lifts. Determined lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination through soil test borings and trenching activities. Made recommendations for aboveground bio-venting with off-gas treatment via catalytic oxidation and carbon adsorption.
- Preliminary Site Assessment / Palomar Airport / Carlsbad, CA. Conducted a Preliminary Site Assessment (PSA) for the Palomar Airport and its associated facilities. Included a thorough site inspection, interviews with employees, regulatory agency files review, and aerial photograph review. Defined potential environmental problems associated with USTs, landfill methane venting operations, and hazardous materials storage at several aviation facilities.
- Remediation Pilot Studies & Computer Modeling. Conducted pilot studies using vapor extraction, air sparging, groundwater extraction, and bio-venting technologies. Performed data analysis and computer modeling for Feasibility Studies and incorporation into Remedial Action Plans (RAPs) and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
- Site Investigation & Monitoring Activities. Experienced in soil and groundwater assessment techniques, including, but not limited to, drilling with hollow-stem auger and air-rotary drill rigs, cone penetrometer investigations, and soil gas surveys (passive and active). Extensive experience with groundwater monitoring well design and installation.
